How We Make Money

Last updated: April 2026

Transparency is one of our core values. This page explains exactly how PropFirm Key generates revenue, how our commercial relationships work, and why they do not compromise the independence of our editorial content. We believe you deserve to know how the platform you rely on for prop firm comparisons sustains itself.

1. Affiliate Partnerships

PropFirm Key earns revenue primarily through affiliate partnerships with prop trading firms listed on our platform. When you click a “Buy Challenge” button, a firm logo, or any outbound link to a prop firm’s website and subsequently purchase a challenge account, PropFirm Key may earn a commission from that firm.

This commission is paid by the prop trading firm — it costs you nothing extra. The price you pay for a challenge is the same whether you arrive at the firm’s website through our link or navigate there directly. Our affiliate arrangement is between us and the firm, and it does not add any surcharge to your purchase.

Not every firm listed on PropFirm Key has an affiliate agreement with us. We review and list firms regardless of whether a commercial relationship exists. Firms without an affiliate partnership receive the same evaluation process and the same level of coverage as those with one.

2. Editorial Independence

Our affiliate relationships do not influence our reviews, ratings, or rankings in any way. Every prop trading firm on PropFirm Key is evaluated using the same objective criteria — challenge pricing, drawdown limits, profit splits, payout speed, trading rules, and community sentiment — regardless of whether that firm pays us a commission.

Our editorial team operates independently from our business development team. The people who negotiate affiliate agreements are not the same people who write reviews, assign ratings, or determine rankings. No firm can pay to improve its score, move up in our rankings, or receive a more favorable review.

If a firm with an affiliate agreement delivers a poor trader experience, our content will reflect that. Conversely, firms without any commercial relationship with us regularly appear at the top of our rankings when their data warrants it.

3. Promo Codes & Discounts

Many of the exclusive promo codes and discount offers listed on PropFirm Key are negotiated directly with prop trading firms as part of our affiliate partnerships. These codes provide real, verified discounts on challenge purchases — every code is tested and confirmed to apply the advertised percentage at checkout before we list it.

We negotiate these discounts specifically to benefit our users. When you use a PropFirm Key promo code, you save money on your challenge purchase. At the same time, the firm recognizes that the referral came through our platform, which supports our business. It is a straightforward value exchange: you get a discount, and we earn a commission.

Promo codes are verified monthly. Expired or non-functional codes are removed immediately. We never fabricate discount percentages or list codes that do not work. All discount data displayed on our platform comes directly from our verified database.

4. What We Do NOT Do

To maintain the trust of our community, there are practices we explicitly refuse:

  • We do not accept payment to alter ratings or rankings. No firm can buy a higher score or a better position in our comparisons.
  • We do not publish paid reviews disguised as editorial content. All our reviews follow the same research methodology, whether or not the firm is an affiliate partner.
  • We do not hide or suppress negative information about affiliate partners. If a partner firm has known issues — slow payouts, restrictive rules, community complaints — our content will reflect that honestly.
  • We do not charge traders any fee. PropFirm Key is completely free to use. You will never be asked to pay to access our comparisons, reviews, tools, or promo codes.

5. Our Full Editorial Standards

For a detailed explanation of how we research, review, and rate prop trading firms — including our data sources, rating methodology, AI disclosure, and content update schedule — please read our complete Editorial Policy.

That page covers our five-step review process, the weighted criteria behind our ratings (Trustpilot score, challenge value, rules fairness, and payout reliability), and our commitment to correcting errors promptly when they are reported.

6. Questions?

If you have questions about how PropFirm Key makes money, our affiliate relationships, or how we maintain editorial independence, we are happy to answer them.
